QUARANTINE AND CHILL?!

For all those people suffering from anxiety and depression, this article is going to help cope with the Lockdown. I’ve been dealing with a hard time too and so I just want to get on here and help each and every one of you cope with it.

I know times like this are really hard for you because you’re sitting ideal and there are thoughts flowing through your brain. It’s hard because you can’t really do much about it. But you sure can distract yourself a little bit, just enough to control all those thoughts from making you more and more anxious and depressed. For everyone suffering from anxiety, I’m sure sleeping seems like a task these days. Try a few meditation videos. It sure did work for me. Lets first list out a few things you could do to distract yourself from everything that your brain is building up.

Read a few books– It always helps because while you’re reading, your mind doesn’t wander much and you’re mainly focusing on that great story line.

Listen to music that uplifts you– It’ll help forget all those thoughts just for a little while so you can relax.

Write ALOT– Putting pen to paper is always a great way to help get rid of all the thoughts and scenarios that your mind is creating. I find this the most effective way to catch a grip on all that thinking.

Exercise- I wouldn’t say invest a lot of your spare time in it but yeah a little bit should do the trick. Exercising helps release a happy hormone so you feel good about yourself and that’s just what we need right now. So, go onto YouTube and fetch a few videos and workout for like 10-15 minutes every day and you’ll see the difference.

Watch a few series- Whenever we’re watching something intense, our thoughts automatically become very limited because again our focus is on the story line and the drama. Try out a few thrillers, romcoms (but not if you and boo just ended things), comedy, or whatever genre it is you prefer. They’ll help channel your thoughts to your advantage.

Your mental health is the key to feeling good about yourself and I can understand that this period of the lockdown is causing most of you to feel lonely, depressed, anxious, non inspirational. But just go with it day by day and you’ll see that you’re not alone. If your friends and family are having a tough time understanding your behaviour and you feel like you can’t discuss things with them, I’m always a text, call, email away.  Because trust me when I say this I’m not doing well myself and it always helps to have that person to talk to, even if you feel like you just want to be alone.

Are you guys lacking inspiration? I sure as hell am. This time won’t come back again and so trust me when I say this, we are so lucky to have gotten this time to figure ourselves out. For all of you wondering what career path to choose, what universities and schools to apply to, stressing over the economic status, relationship problems, etc. JUST CALM DOWN FOR A WHILE! Focus on finding yourself, who you are, what you want, what you need, your passions, what makes you happy. Most of us end up putting everyone else’s needs and wants and happiness ahead of our own. I’m not saying it’s wrong of us to stop thinking about ourselves in the process. But this is the time when we can do that. Once we get back to reality and the monotony of our lives, we all will be wondering why we didn’t take this time for ourselves. So make it a point to make this time worth the while and learn about YOU, introspect. Forget everyone else for sometime because once this time comes to an end, you’ll have plenty of time to invest in others.

You must be thinking that all of this is easier said than done. And it’s true but take it from someone battling anxiety and depression, you just need to have the will to make yourself stronger and this time will help you do just that. I am utilising this time to find myself and my inspiration all over again. How will you guys utilise this time?
